Week 2

The night before today's lab, our group added the final details and reviewed for the last time our project proposal.
In lab, Dr. Hao Cheng demonstrated the formation of calcium alginate gel through the reaction of sodium alginate and calcium chloride solutions. He also tested everyone's knowledge on the chemical makeup of the alginate molecule.
Our team consulted Dr. Cheng for feedback on our alchite patch concept. He was hesitant because it was out of the scope of his knowledge, so if we are successful with the project, then we will be breaking new ground. So far, we just have alginate. We will order other materials soon, including calcium chloride, chitosan, acetic acid, hydrochloric acid, and deionized water. However, if we can retrieve any supplies from Drexel's facilities, then we can save some money.
